Trey Wright Trio
Trey Wright is a jazz guitarist based in Atlanta, Ga. He co-founded the jazz band Squat, which is a six-time winner of the “Best Jazz” award at the Flagpole Athens Music Awards.
He also leads the Trey Wright Trio and is a co-producer of Thinking Out Loud has produced six independent CD releases and plays freelance in Athens and Atlanta. The other two trio members are Marc Miller (upright bass) and Marlon Patton (drums, also plays with Grogus, Squat and Heavy Mojo).
Initially inspired by the blues, Trey was exposed to jazz early in his development by a private instructor. While studying Sociology at the University of Georgia, Wright furthered his study of jazz improvisation with pianist and composer Steve Dancz. Two of Trey’s compositions from Squat (“Nepsis” and “Bert’s Song”) were in rotation on Sirius Radio in the summer of 2007.
The Trey Wright Trio recently released their second CD Thinking Out Loud on Blue Canoe Records featuring 8 originals and covers of Soundgarden’s “Blow up the Outside World” and Thom Yorke’s “Analyse”.
