Free Lunch
The Flagpole calls this locally-based band, “a funky staple of the Athens jam band scene.” Enjoy its rock & roll sound with jazzy tones and the occasional twang.
Free Lunch began in mid-2006. After several break-ups and changes, Free Lunch is now sticking with members Bill Baker, (bassist and vocals), Andrew Lastrapes, (guitar), and Richard Chamberlain, (drums and vocals). Justin Willis joins in on guitar, while “Gnarly G” adds a new degree of style with his saxophone collaboration.
Band influences include James Brown, Widespread Panic and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Members played a Georgia Theatre benefit concert in July with Tent City, Domino Effect and Laissez Funk. Free Lunch most recently performed at The Five Spot in Atlanta.
Free Lunch will play 8:10 p.m. Friday on the outdoor stage.
